bulldog adventures: Summer Edition

What we did and where we went (and did yoga).

We’ve now officially celebrated the end of summer (with a holiday weekend FTW), but here at bulldog, we’re happy to report that we didn’t waste a minute of the season. Like the rest of our community, our leaders took on their fair share of adventures over the last few months — and they were nice enough to give us all the deets, plus some personal photos. Keep scrolling to learn more about how seven awesome team members enjoyed the hell outta Summer 2017.

If you’re part of our bulldog online community, you’ll see some familiar faces, plus a few others who have yet to make their film debut. Keep your eyes peeled for these superstars in future online classes!

For the first time, I spent the entire summer at the Jersey shore! My family and I spent days and days soaking up the summer sun. My kids started to really experience the full awesomeness of the ocean, so much that they now want to start surfing! I took the summer off from leading yoga classes myself and was able to try different studios at the beach. We wrapped up the summer viewing the solar eclipse oceanside — a fitting end to an incredible season!

One of the most interesting places I practiced yoga was Wanderlust Squaw Valley. Yoga on the beach is wonderful, too! For me, the most challenging pose is a head stand on the stand up paddle board — but why not try, right? I love this yoga tribe and everyone’s unique way to practice.

This summer, I went to Maine with my family. We took long beach walks and ate clams and lobsters straight from fishermen on the boat (yum!). While there, I also cooked, relaxed, and got back into my running routine. I even had an extended summer — I finished up the season with a trip to Italy over Labor Day!

My husband Brian and I bought our first house in May, so when I wasn’t leading classes at the studio, I spent a lot of time working in my new flower gardens. I absolutely love it! I also grabbed some downtime reading, hanging out with family and friends, and exploring yoga classes as a guest myself. Later in the summer, I vacationed in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, where I relaxed in the sun, practiced yoga, indulged in some southern food, and took a day trip to Charleston, which is our favorite city. Fall is my favorite time of year, though, so bring it on!

I wish I had a more action-packed summer, but this was a working season for me. I swam, spent some time paddle boarding on Marsh Creek, got some inversions down, had a blast leading classes, and got in some QT with my bulldog girls!

Every year, I plan yoga and biking retreats, and since we went to Iceland this summer, I incorporated more “adventure offerings” into the hiking and biking. We had 19 total participants and got to experience unbelievable beauty — glaciers, geysers, black sand beaches, waterfalls, and 20 full hours of daylight!

In April, I gave birth to my first child Abigail Riley, so my summer was full of firsts! The highlight of the summer was probably taking Abby to the beach at Stone Harbor, NJ when she was just two months old. It was an absolute blast dipping her toes in the ocean for the first time and watching sunsets from our balcony overlooking the bay.
